No problems, error messages nor strange happenings. I've tried multiple times, deleted all Garmin stuff off the machine, tried installing on another PC. I think they make more off the updates then the units. Run this program by double-clicking file img2gps.

If I am able to do this you can download a linux CD and run the operating system straight from your CD Rom drive and then hopefully access the garmin. Leaving gobs of space for all the other maps you want.

It does not use Mapsource but rather it auto-runs and is fully automatic. The only issue is you have to be willing to purchase a North America update disk. Europe v9 NT along with it's unlock code and I have just received the update DVD from Garmin with the European mapping and purchased the unlock code for that as well.

If that's the case then it's a major blow against Garmin in my book. I'll report back here once I've done the deed, hopefully I'll have a full European sat nav rather mig2gps a door stop. I have tried to reload after and the maps load back up no problem.

The absence of any such utility means that if I successfully overwrite the US mapping but the there's some checksum file or some such that detects that the mapping isn't what's expected I'm going to end up with an expensive paper weight. After that message goes away, pull out the data cable or img2gpw off the unit.

Make sure there are NO spaces in the directory where sendmap. Does anyone understand why you can't see the internal memory with windows explorer when it is hooked up with the USB? Yes they do get you don't they?
